Thunderstorms, high in upper 80s expected Monday

A 60 percent chance of thunderstorms is expected in the metro-east Monday.

Scattered showers are expected to move into the area by 10 a.m. and they'll strengthen and become more widespread throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature is expected to reach 87 degrees. But, after the rain moves into the area, residents should get a break from hot and humid temperatures.

Thunderstorms are expected to continue Monday evening when the low will reach 69. After 1 a.m. Tuesday they're expected to start to break up.

There is a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms Tuesday during the daytime hours. Otherwise skies will be partly sunny with a high temperature of 86. It will be partly cloudy Tuesday night with a low of 69.

A slight chance of thunderstorms and a high of 87 is expected Wednesday.
