July 5Ks, other races in the metro-east

The summer running season is in full stride. Here's a roundup of some 5-kilometer (and longer) runs and walks during July in the metro-east:

Mascoutah Meltdown 5K

8 a.m. Friday

Scheve Park, Mascoutah

$30 for K; $15 for Kids Run

Funds from this race will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This loop course will end in Scheve Park near the pool.

Hofbraufest 5K Run/Walk

8 a.m., July 12

Community Club Park in Hoyleton

$15 for 5K (prior to July 7), $20 after July 8; $15 for Open Mile; $10 for Youth 1/2 Mile

The 8th annual race will feature chip timing this year, in addition to free beer. The race is part of the 46th annual Hoyleton Hofbraufest, which includes rides, beer, food, live music, games and more.

Red Bud Round 5K

7 p.m. July 12

St. John the Baptist Catholic School, 519 Hazel St., Red Bud


The third annual race is sponsored by the Red Bud Knights or Columbus Council 12152 and is part of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Picnic.

Growing Our Parks 5K

6 p.m. July 18

Schranz Park, 360 Honeysuckle Lane, Swansea

$20, $25 day-of registration

The event is sponsored by the Swansea Patriots and will feature music, food, water, soda and beer for all before and after the run.

Summer Sizzler 5K and 10K

7 a.m. July 19

Collinsville Maryville Troy YMCA, 1 Town Center Drive, Maryville

$25, $30 day-of registration

The race is part of the YMCA Race Series.

Freeburg Community High School Run with a Purpose CrossFit Metro East 5K Run/Walk

8 a.m. July 19

Smithton City Park, on Memorial Street off Highway 159

$25 by July 4; $30 after July 4

The fundraiser run/walk benefits ADAPT4Autism, ALFA Foundatoin and Belleville PTOEC.

Splash City's Dash 'n Splash

6 p.m. July 19

Splash City Waterpark, 10 Gateway Drive, Collinsville

$26 by July 3; $30 after July 3

The race includes an after-party at Splash City with dinner courtesy of Ravanelli's Restaurant, music and more.

5K 4 ICA and 2 Mile Run/Walk

8 a.m. July 26

Fairview Heights

$25 by July 11; $30 after July 11

The race benefits the Illinois Center for Autism, a not-for-profit community-based mental health treatment and educational agency dedicated to serving people with autism.

BEACON Pathway to Hope 5K Run/Walk & Kids 1-Mile Fun Run

8 a.m. July 26

Belleville West High School

$25 for adults before July 11; $30 after July 11; $10 per child for Fun Run

The 5K and kids 1-mile fun run coincides with a weight loss challenge, although participants do not have to partake in the weight loss challenge. The event also will try to break the record for the largest electric slide dance after the runs, according to race organizers.
