More oohs and aahs than fireworks? Spectacular weather forecast

Sunny skies and unseasonably cool temperatures will remain for the enjoyment of metro-east residents over the next several days.

The high temperature is expected to be 78 Thursday, 11 degrees cooler than the average high temperature for the first week of July in the St. Louis area.

Overnight the low will drop to 57 under mostly clear skies.

On Friday, the Fourth of July, skies will be sunny with a high temperature of 80 and calm winds. It will be clear with a high of 83 degrees Saturday during the daytime hours.

Clouds will move in Saturday night, carrying a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms. The chance of wet weather will carry into Sunday, when the high temperature will climb to a more typical 89 degrees.
