Another day of pleasant weather is on tap for the metro-east Thursday, with a high temperature of 83 degrees expected under sunny skies.
That's six degrees cooler than the average high temperature for July 10 in the St. Louis area, according to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.
Overnight the National Weather Service predicts that skies will be clear with a low of 63.
Rain creeps back into the forecast Friday with a 20 percent chance of showers during the day and into the evening hours. The high temperature will be 86 Friday and the low 71.
The temperature will be more summer-like this weekend, reaching 93 on Saturday and 90 on Sunday with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms each day.
But the heat wave isn't expected to last. The extended forecast calls for high temperatures in the low 80s during the first part of next week.
