A business is expanding its corporate offices in Belleville.
Illinois American Water will add a new 5,200 square-foot building to the distribution center at 100 N. Water Works Drive, off Frank Scott Parkway.
The $1.4-million project will provide additional office, storage and team meeting space.
Holland Construction Services Inc., of Swansea, Lowry Electric Co., of East St. Louis, and Bel-O Cooling and Heating Inc., of O'Fallon, will work on the expansion.
Karla Olson Teasley, Illinois American Water president, said the investment will enhance operations and productivity, thus improving customer service.
Construction is expected to be completed by this fall, according to Karen Cotton, Illinois American Water spokeswoman.
Ninety employees currently work in the distribution center. Cotton said no new positions would be added as a result of the expansion, but the addition will house new hires made during the past two years.
Illinois American Water also operates a quality control and research laboratory in Belleville.
