Beautiful weather to close out week, but storms ahead?

Unseasonably cool weather and sunny skies are expected Thursday for the metro-east.

The high temperature will reach only 80, according to the National Weather Service. That's about 10 degrees cooler than normal for late July in the St. Louis area.

The low Thursday will drop to 60 overnight under mostly clear skies.

It is expected to be mostly sunny during the daytime hours Friday with a high of 85. A 20 percent chance of thunderstorms is in the forecast for Friday night when the low will be 72.

The possibility of storms will continue into the weekend. The chance of rain will increase to 30 percent Saturday when the high temperature will shoot up to 94 degrees.

Saturday night the chance of thunderstorms is 50 percent with a low of 74. On Sunday there is a 30 percent chance of storms during the day with a high of 89.
