The East St. Louis campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will now report to a different department under a reorganization plan approved Thursday by the university board of trustees.
The East St. Louis Center will now be supervised by Kenn Neher, vice chancellor for administration, according to Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe. The center includes grant-funded programs such as Head Start, which has centers in Belleville, Brooklyn, Cahokia, Caseyville, Freeburg and East St. Louis.
The charter high school will continue to report to the School of Education.
The trustees, who met in Springfield, also approved $1.3 million on contracts for electrical and heating renovations and an upgrade of the water pumping station at the Edwardsville campus.
