Cool temps, slight chance of rain remain in forecast

July will end with more unseasonably cool temperatures for the metro-east.

Mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 81 are expected Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. That's about 10 degrees cooler than the average high temperature for this time of year in the St. Louis area.

The low will be 60 overnight under partly cloudy skies.

On Thursday, skies are expected to be mostly sunny with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the forecast and a high of 83. Overnight it will be partly cloudy and 62.

August arrives Friday with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms and a high of 83.
