5 things to do this weekend: Rappin', racin' and 'rasslin on the menu

It's August in Illinois, so it must be time for the county fair. Not into carnival rides or demolition derbies? Keep reading, we haven't forgotten you.

Fairs galore

The big one this weekend is, of course, St. Clair County Fair at the Belle-Clair Fairgrounds. Rides and exhibits open from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with Midgets and Micros car races at 6:30. Admission is free but parking is $4; go to bcfairgrounds.net/saint-clair-county-fair for more.

Fairview Heights Homecoming will have a parade (5 p.m. Saturday), car show (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday) and rides (armband $18) at Moody Park.

And the Illinois State Fair opens -- musical guests include Pitbull and Florida Georgia Line this weekend. Go to StateFair.Illinois.gov for more information.

'Rasslin

"Stage Two" wrestling at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the TriCity YMCA, 451 Niedringhause Ave. in Granite City. Seats are $12 for adults and $10 for children.

Find out more about PWCS wrestling -- complete with lots of blustering and video links -- at www.facebook.com/pwcswrestling and twitter.com/pwcswrestling (Parents may want to review those pages first.)

Racin'

Feeling the need for speed? Qualifying and time trials at the Hot Rod Showdown begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gateway Motorsports Park at 700 Raceway Blvd. in Madison. Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator qualify at noon. Eliminations for Comp Eliminator, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster begin at 4 p.m. Eliminations for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car are at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $19; children 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Call 855-722-3845 or visit www.gatewaymsp.com.

Bangerz

Wrap up your weekend with a woman who can't be tamed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Scotttrade Center. Miley Cyrus is making up for a previously missed April concert on her Bangerz tour. Tickets start at $32; floor seats are going for upward of $450. For more information, go to www.scotttradecenter.com (or Cyrus' own site at www.mileycyrus.com).

(Bill Cosby will be at Lumiere Place on Saturday; but his show is sold out.)

For the kids

The St. Louis International Children's Film Festival wraps up Sunday. Venues and movies are across the St. Louis area (http://cinemastlouis.org/sliffkids-childresn-film-festival) and the closet will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Edwardsville's Wildey Theater at 252 N. Main St. in Edwardsville. The movie there is "My Dog the Champion." Admission is free but limited to 326 people.
