Farmer, 75, dies while trimming trees

A 75-year-old man died from a fall while trimming tree limbs a few days ago, according to the coroner.

Dan Henry Dauderman of 11603 Leuscher Road was found by family members on his 300-acre Alhambra farm Saturday after they were unable to reach him by phone.

According to the Madison County Coroner's Office, Dauderman was trimming tree limbs from the bucket of his tractor when a tree limb fell and struck the manual bucket release, which threw him about 10 feet to the ground.

Dauderman was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday morning. An autopsy concluded that he died of a cervical fracture and transection of the spinal cord.

The family told the coroner's office that he might have been out in the wooded area since last Tuesday, as the mail had not been picked up and no one had talked to him since that time.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Dauderman Funeral Home in Alhambra.
