A taste of fall: Cooler temperatures on tap

Sunny skies and a taste of fall weather are in store for the metro-east Tuesday.

The high temperature will reach only 78, according to the national weather service. That's about 11 degrees less than the average high temperature for the middle of August in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Mild weather is expected to stick around for the rest of the week.

It will be sunny with a high of 82 on Wednesday; more sun with a high of 85 is expected Thursday.

The low Monday night will be 56. On Wednesday it will be 58 and on Thursday it will be 63.

The next chance of rain comes Friday night, when there is a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms in the extended forecast.
