Mungo's set for September move to O'Fallon

Tony Mazzola says he will move and his Mungo's Italian Restaurant later next month.

The new location is in O'Fallon off Interstate 64, at the corner of Hartman Lane and Central Park Drive, next to O'Fallon 15 Cine.

Mungo's has been serving Italian dishes in the metro-east since 1983. The restaurant has operated from 525 Lincoln Highway in Plaza St. Clair in Fairview Heights for the past 12 years.

A new diner in Collinsville serves "Asian and Western" fare. The new eatery, known as 157 Diner, at 115 N. Bluff Road, has a menu of sweet and sour chicken, pork, egg rolls, crab rangoon and Mongolian beef. Specials are featured daily. Call 618-344-3225 to find out more.

Belleville's own Eckert's Country Restaurant was just named one of the Top 10 Family Friendly Restaurants. The restaurant, by the Belleville orchard at 951 S. Green Mount Road, has been selected as a finalist in the U.S. Foods Top Family Friendly Restaurant contest.

A sports bar is planning to move to O'Fallon where a couple other similar venues had once operated. John Eichenlaub of Barber Murphy Group in Shiloh said the new business, name to be announced, will reoccupy the building at 950 Talon Drive, which has housed Aspen Bar & Lounge and Jersey'z before that. Stay tuned.

Butterfield Jewelers in Collinsville closed for remodeling. No word on when the jewelry store at 123 E. Main St. will reopen. The phone number is 618-344-0300.

And finally, the City of Belleville has recently been named a Runner Friendly Community by the Road Runners Club of America. The Belleville Running Club is looking for runner friendly businesses as the runners group is always looking for places to gather and park their cars for their occassional jogs.
