East St. Louis assistant police chief suspended

The assistant police chief of the East St. Louis Police Department has been suspended, but officials are keeping mum about why.

Ronald Ike was suspended Thursday, Mayor Alvin Park confirmed Friday. He deferred all questions to City Manager Deletra Hudson, who could not be reached for comment.

Police Chief Michael Floore also declined to comment, deferring to Hudson.

Ike has been on the force since January 1996.
