West City police and Illinois State Police continued to search Saturday afternoon for three inmates who escaped from a prison transport bus Friday in West City, Illinois.
About 5:15 p.m. Friday, a private inmates transportation company notified West City police that three inmates had escaped their bus while traveling through Southern Illinois to Kentucky, according to a press release from Police Chief Scott Choisser.
The company said it believes the inmates escaped at a West City McDonald’s parking lot about 1:25 p.m. The release said the lot is one of the company’s routine stops.
According to Benton News, the missing inmates were not discovered until the transport reached the Crittenden County Detention Center in Kentucky about 4:45 p.m.
West City police said in the release that the public should be on the lookout for the suspects as police continue to investigate.
According to the release, the suspects are:
▪ Charles L. Kelly, a 21-year-old white male, 5-foot-5, 140 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair;
▪ Randall W. Napier, a 33-year-old white male, 5-7, 130 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair; and
▪ Alonzo D. Young, a 24-year-old black male, 5-11, 140 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
