Daily and nightly lane restrictions have been scheduled to begin on Wednesday along Interstate 64, weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation said in a news release.
Lane restrictions will allow for the construction of a new interchange at Reider Road, just north of Scott Air Force Base, as well as the addition of more lanes on the interstate, IDOT said.
Work is scheduled to take place between the Green Mount Road interchange and the Route 4 interchange.
According to IDOT:
Never miss a local story.
All westbound lanes, west of Route 158, will remain open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.,
All westbound lanes, east of Route 158, will remain open from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.,
All eastbound lanes, west of Route 158, will remain open from 6 to 8 a.m. and from noon to 8 p.m., and
All eastbound lanes, east of Route 158, will remain open from 3 to 6 p.m.
Work on the project is expected to be completed by June 2017.
