Sunny skies and a high of 78 are expected Wednesday for the metro-east.
But thunderstorms could move into the area overnight and they could become severe Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Winds will be gusty Wednesday afternoon, blowing at up to 23 mph. Skies will become increasingly cloudy in the evening with a 20 percent chance of a thunderstorm overnight.
The chance of thunderstorms will increase to 70 percent Thursday when the high will be 74. Winds will gust up to 25 mph.
There is an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms Thursday night.
The metro-east is on the edge of an area of the Midwest that could be hit by severe storms including the possibility of hail, strong straight-line winds and a slight chance of tornadoes.
The weather will be calmer but cooler Friday. Rain is likely with a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms and a high of 58. Winds will gust up to 28 mph.
Partly cloudy skies and a low of 34 are expected Friday night.
