An Alton woman faces felony charges alleging she injured three children in her care.
Kristina R. Solorio-Campbell, 33, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery to a child, according to a news release from the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office. One count is a Class X felony, while the other two are Class 3 felonies.
Doctors at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis discovered multiple injuries to the head and body of a 4-year-old child who was in Solorio-Campbell’s care, according to the release. Officers also responded to a report of an injured child in the 700 block of Oakwood in Alton, but Alton police did not release details of that investigation.
Police believe Solorio-Campbell assaulted two other children in her care, in addition to the 4-year-old, according to the release. She is accused of punching all three children in the head, and punching and stomping one of them in the head and body. Due to the age of the victims, further information will not be released to maintain their privacy, the release stated.

“I want to commend the excellent work of the Alton Police Department and all of the medical personnel involved in bringing this investigation to a quick conclusion,” said State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons.
Solorio-Campbell was in custody Tuesday on $200,000 bail. If convicted, she faces six to 30 years in prison for the Class X felony charge and two to five years in prison each for the Class 3 felony charges.
