Democratic candidate for governor and Madison County regional superintendent Bob Daiber says a Chicago social worker will be his running mate for the 2018 nomination.
Jonathan W. Todd, 49, has worked for the non-profit Association House of Chicago for thirteen years, according to a news release from Daiber’s campaign sent Friday morning. The non-profit organization provides education to youth in English and Spanish.
“Jonathan has a background to help lead the charge to end violence in Chicago and around the state,” Daiber said in a prepared statement.

Todd has never held public office, but is active in Democratic politics as a community organizer, campaign volunteer and strategist. Todd earned his Bachelor’s Degree in sociology from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He has also worked with the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Human Services
“I began to follow Bob in his campaign last spring and have been impressed with his knowledge and detailed answers,” Todd said in a prepared statement. “We will be a good team because we will work to move the state forward and unite Illinois.”
Todd’s wife is Stacy Todd and they have a 4-year-old daughter.
