A Sparta man died in a crash involving a car and a farm combine in Washington County on Wednesday night, according to the county coroner.
Clarence A. “Tex” Loucks Sr., 60, was pronounced dead at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday after he crossed the center line on northbound County Highway 16, near Oakdale, and struck a combine tractor head-on.
The corn head of the combine struck Loucks on the head as it went through the car, according to a news release from the Washington County Coroner’s office. Loucks had to be extricated from his car by the Coulterville Fire Department. The combine was driven by a woman from Nashville, whose identity was not released.

Loucks died from massive head trauma, and the Washington County coroner determined his death to be accidental, according to the news release. The Washington County Sheriff’s and coroner’s office were still investigating the crash Thursday evening.
Family members said Loucks worked at Nascote Industries in Nashville and enjoyed playing poker and washers. His survivors include two sons who are serving in the military, including family members.
