A tractor-trailer crash shut down Interstate 64 for around two hours Monday night and resulted in one driver being flown to a St. Louis hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of a tractor-trailer was traveling east near New Baden at 8:45 p.m. when he struck the rear of another tractor-trailer, according to Illinois State Police spokesman Calvin Dye Jr.
The cab of the first truck was lodged in the second truck’s trailer.
Both lanes of the highway were closed while the driver was extricated. The highway was reopened at 10:20 p.m., according to Dye.
