A truck driver died Wednesday after swerving off Interstate 270 near Glen Carbon. The truck wound up on the side of the road causing backups along the highway as police investigated the cause of the crash.
Belleville Police ended a three-hour standoff with a man in a house on South Pennsylvania Avenue. Police said the man threatened suicide and to shoot anyone who came in his house. He was brought out on a stretcher. The man was a veteran and may suffer from PTSD, police said.
The remains of U.S. Army Statf Sgt. Christopher A. Wilbur of Granite City arrived Monday morning at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport. Members of several police departments and the Patriot Guard Riders escorted his hearse to Granite City.
Director Tricia Stanfield talks about one of The Power of One's mentoring programs. The Power of One Project is promised a building on North Illinois in Belleville, where they hope to run the nonprofit that provides mentoring as well as food, clothing and household items for those in need. The project expects to be in the building by fall 2017.
About noon Saturday, a car crashed into the side of an apartment building at the intersection of Anderson and Yorkshire Lanes in Shiloh. The crash left a hole in the brick wall. One man was taken into custody at the scene.
