While a note on the door implies the move could be temporary, all the restaurant’s signs have been taken down, giving the impression that the move is permanent.
When it originally opened two decades ago across Ludwig Drive from the then new St. Clair 10 Cinema, waits were long to get a table and the first Applebee’s in the metro-east.

Now the chain has stores in Swansea, Waterloo and at several spots on the Missouri side of the Mississippi River.
▪ Two suspects are on the run after robbing a Madison County convenience store at gunpoint.
Armed with what appeared to be black, semi-automatic handguns, the suspects robbed the Casey’s General Store in Meadowbrook near Bethalto at just after 11:30 Monday.
According to security camera images, the robbers appear to be between 16-20 years old. They were wearing paint ball masks to conceal their identities.
▪ One suspect is in custody and another is on the loose after an O’Fallon gold shop was held up.
Dollars 4 Gold was robbed at just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. One of the suspects jumped the counter and demanded money. A witness in the parking lot saw the crime occur and called police.
