The Just Older Youth Singing (JOY) group will begin practicing for its Christmas season on Monday, Oct. 3.
Practices will be at the First Baptist Church, 2709 Poplar St. in Highland, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The group is under new direction, with Linda Driesner and accompanist is Faye Brown. A Christmas medley of familiar songs, Silver Bells, and I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus are just some of the songs in this season’s concert.
The group plans to start singing at area nursing homes and retirement institutions in the Highland and surrounding communities beginning Nov. 7 and hopes to finish by Dec. 19. Most concerts will be on a Monday.
The JOY Singers is open to anyone over 50 years old. One does not have to read music to be apart of this group.
