Village working to extend natural gas line
The village of Grantfork is working with AmerenIllinois to extend the natural gas line from Mary Sue Lane along Illinois Route 160 through the village.
The village sent out cover letter and tap-on agreement several weeks ago. Those who are interested should fill out that agreement and return it to village hall. If a property owner did not receive the information in the mail or if you have any questions, call the village hall at 675-3400, ext. 2. Leave a message and someone will get back with you.
There is no cost for the homeowner to tap on. The first 60 feet of piping to connect a building to the gas main is free. Pipes that need to be run a greater distance will be $6.50 per foot for anything over 60 feet.
In order to move forward with the project, the village needs a commitment from each interested property owner. The deadline for a response will be Sunday, April 12. Village Hall will be opened to accept signed agreements on the following dates:
• Thursday, April 9 from 5 to 8 p.m.
• Sunday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Signed agreements can also be placed in the drop box at the village hall, located at 205 Rock St., anytime before noon on Sunday.
