SWCD having pond fish sale
The Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District is taking orders for its pond fish sale. This sale is for those pond owners that have an established fish population and need to supplement some species. The species available are channel catfish, albino catfish, redear, hybrid sunfish, bluegill, largemouth bass, fathead minnows, crappie and triploid grass carp.
Friday March 23 is the deadline to order and pay for all of the fish, except grass carp. The due date is March 16 for grass carp.

The pick-up location is the USDA Service Center Parking Lot at 7205 Marine Road (Illinois 143) in Edwardsville. The fish truck will be on the parking lot on Saturday, March 31 from 8 to 9 a.m.

Marine Fire Department chicken & beer dance
The Marine Fire Department and its Ladies Auxiliary will have a chicken and beer dance from on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Alhambra Firemen & Legion Hall in Alhambra Township Park, 610 W. Main St. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the band Buffalo Road hits the stage at 7:30 p.m.
Single tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The price includes the entertainment, chicken, beverages, plates and utensils. Bring your own sides.

Results for Salem sausage supper
The weather cooperated to make the 70th annual sausage supper for Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra another outstanding event. A total of 2,300 meals were sold, with 1,216 dine-in and 1,084 carry-outs. This is down a bit from last year, when 2,318 meals were sold. The church would like to thanks to all who worked or participated in any way to make this venture a success.

The Pre-K Family Fun Night is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Alhambra Primary.
The color sheets/posters for the VFW contest are also due at this time.
There will be no pre-K classes from Feb. 5-9, as there will be screening for pre-K children in Highland.

Leef Senior Citizens meeting
The Leef Senior Citizens meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Leef Township Building, located on the corner of Illinois 160 and Niggli Road. The evening starts off with a pot-luck, followed by a short meeting and a fun evening of fellowship, playing pinochle and euchre. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 618-488-7254.

The annual Appreciation Sausage Dinner is set for Feb. 11, following worship.
The annual Congregational Meeting will be on Feb. 4. This meeting will ask the congregation to vote on the proposed changes to the church constitution and by-laws.
