The 3rd Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee is hosting two days of free legal appointments solely for veterans at the Madison County Courthouse Law Library in Edwardsville. The 30-minute appointments are for Nov. 10 and Nov. 12, the days flanking Veterans Day.
Providing annual legal advice and legal workshops targeting veterans in honor of Veterans’ Day is a worthwhile and important addition to existing pro bono programs. Members of the veterans’ sub-committee wanted to highlight assistance to veterans near Veterans Day to thank them for their service and to help provide for veterans’ legal needs.
The goal of the legal advice targeting veterans is to recognize their contributions to our society along with reinforcing the numerous services available to veterans. The 3rd Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee’s veterans subcommittee is devoted to assisting the many veterans in the metro-east. The sub-committee wants to do more than just distribute brochures. Madison County lawyers have volunteered to be resources to help veterans with paperwork and in court cases. Targeting individuals with one-on-one appointments and also providing specific legal information will help connect veterans who need legal assistance with attorneys who are ready and willing to handle their legal problems.
