The village-wide yard sales will be held on Thursday, May 5 from 3 to 8 p.m.; on Friday May 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Saturday, May 7 from 8 a.m. to noon. Call Wendy Reinacher 675-3472 for further information and to get your sale listed.
St. Gertrude Catholic Church
St. Gertrude is preparing for its annual chicken dinner, which will be held on Sunday, June 5. Volunteers are needed and asked to sign up to clean the church before the dinner, on Tuesday, May 31 at 6 p.m., and after the dinner, on Monday June 6.

The Catholic Holy Family Society will again have the Country Store at the St. Gertrude Chicken Dinner. Organizers are asking for donations of baked and food items, crafts, homemade jellies and canned goods also go over well. Donations for the chicken dinner raffle are also being accepted; contact Carly Ann Maurer at 488-3183 if you would like to make a donation.
Grantfork Students are in need of 40 more Campbell Soup labels to meet their goal of 100 labels. They must be turned in by May 6. Send any labels that may have been saved for the school.
Grades 5-8 will participate in a band and chorus concert at the Highland Middle School at 7 p.m. on May 10.
There will be the last Domino’s fundraiser on May 10. Everyone is encouraged to come enjoy a Domino’s pizza and help the PTO.
The PTO needs three adults to audit the books. Contact one of the PTO officers if willing to audit the books. The next PTO meeting will be on May 17 at Alhambra at 6:30 p.m.
Congratulations to Optimist Poster Contest winners Jake Esmon and Morgan Jarell and runners- up Grace Hanvey and Sydney Seitz. Theme for the posters was “Smoking is NOT Cool.”
The congregation welcomes new members Sydnee Cory, Bryce Kirsch and John Walker on May 1, as they take their fist communion during their rite of confirmation.
Parishioners are reminded that the UFO (United For Others) will have their bake sale on Sunday, May 1.
A Baccalaureate Service will take place for Highland graduates on Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church.
The Churchmen’s Fellowship fish fry will be held Thursday, May 5 at 6 p.m. at the Kreutzberg home.
Sunday, May 8 will be Family Day. All parents and grandparents are invited to attend at 9 a.m. A Mother’s Day worship service will be held at 10 a.m.
