Stephan M. Lancey, 55, of Highland died on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at his home.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 and from 8 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with the Rev. Christopher W. Hill, senior pastor of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, officiating. Private burial will be in Highland City Cemetery at a later date.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1959 in East St. Louis to Terry M. and Virginia L. (Chappell) Lancey.
Mr. Lancey’s family moved to Highland in 1968, and he graduated from Highland High in 1977. While in high school, he excelled at wrestling, football and track. He also performed in many high school stage productions. He attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

He had worked as a system analyst at Artex International in Highland, then Boeing and several smaller companies in St. Louis. He then changed careers and became a loan specialist at a bank in Breese.
Perhaps Mr. Lancey was best know as a broadcaster, especially sports, on the former WINU and later WGEL radio stations. He was a sports fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams and was a former season ticket holder.
He was a former member of Breese Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his mother, who lives in Highland; his former wife, Donna M. Lancey (nee Grapperhaus) of Breese; a daughter, Amanda R. Lancey (significant other Mike Jakse) of Chicago; sons, Jonathan M. Lancey of Breese and Kevin M. (Sarah) Hennessey of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Kelly Q. Lancey (fiancee Jill Hartmann) of Highland; a sister, Suzie K. Lancey (significant other Dean “Julio” Stevenson) of Highland; several nieces and nephews; and Bob Maurer, significant other to David B. Lancey, of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died on Aug. 5, 2014; and brothers, David B. Lancey, who died on Aug. 23, 2013 at age 46, and Edward Scott Lancey, who died on July 21, 2012 at age 49.
