Elnora M. “Eleanor” Hamann, 81, of Alhambra died on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, with the Rev. Jerry Amiri, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Alhambra. Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on July 24, 1934 in Old Ripley to Henry and Anna (Schneider) Hamann.
Ms. Hamann grew up in Old Ripley, Marine and Alhambra. She lived for a while in Highland and most of her life in Alhambra. She worked for Jakel Manufacturing in Highland for 29 years, retiring in January 1997.
She enjoyed playing cards, being with family and friends, and watching soap operas on TV.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra.
Survivors include brothers, Elmer (Margaret) Hamann of Pfafftown, N.C., Norman (Judith) Hamann of Moro, Harold Hamann of Worden, Duane Hamann of Jerseyville and Larry Hamann of St. Jacob; a sister, Betty (Lawrence) Heffernan of Edwardsville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert Hamann, Junior C. Hamann and Ronald Hamann, who died in infancy; sisters, Loretta A. Meier, who died on July 7, 2005, and Irene Kantner; half-siblings, Lewis Hamann, Henrietta Buske and Alvera Volentine; and a sister-in-law, Joan Hamann
