Clarence “Buck” Hodapp, 88, of Carlyle died on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle on Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at Zieren Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31 at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle, with Fr. George Mauck, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
He was born on May 21, 1927 in Carlyle to Walter and Elizabeth (Kohlbrecher) Hodapp. He married Melba M. Hediger on April 19, 1950 in Carlyle. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2010.
Mr. Hodapp was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and later worked at Scott Air Force Base as a warehouse foreman. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 1382 in Carlyle. He enjoyed repairing small engines, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include daughters, Theresa Hammel of Carlyle, Jean (Robert) Langenhorst of Bartelso, Denise Thornton of New Berlin, Ill., and Betty (Scott) Orr; a son, Bernard (Geralyn) Hodapp of Carlyle; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Hollenkamp and Marilyn (Ed) Miller, all of Carlyle; and sisters-in-law, Mary Hediger of Carlyle and Judy Hodapp of Bethalto.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harry W. Hodapp; and brothers, Walter, Donald and Robert Hodapp.
