Highland High School freshman Victoria Thomae competed well last week at the YMCA National Swimming Championships in North Carolina.
Thomae, 15, went from 103rd to 30th place out of 123 swimmers in the 200 breaststroke. She also improved her personal-best time by 4 seconds as well as broke the Edwardsville Breaker swim team age group record with a time of 2:22.66.
In the 100 breaststroke, Thomae finished 75th out of 151 competitors in the event. She also scored her personal-record time and broke the Edwardsville Breaker age group record with a time of 1:07.67
In addition, Thomae swam the breaststroke en route to helping both the 400 medley relay swim in the B finals and place 14th overall and the 200 medley relay finish 22nd.
