Thomas Miles, 375th Medical Group safety officer, is this week’s “Showcase on ICE.” Miles boasts an accomplished career and is known as a mentor and leader in the Wing’s safety community. At the medical group, he leads four major safety programs serving over 600 staff members supporting 300,000 medical/dental patient visits, 282,000 lab tests, and 353,000 prescriptions dispensed annually. He trained 66 safety representatives across eight buildings spanning 400,000 sq. ft. and 24 duty sections who support the safety program. In addition, Miles produced the MDG’s safety video for Air Mobility Command’s “Say Something” initiative, providing guidance and safety information on the 100 critical days of summer. He also reorganized the clinic’s stairwell evacuation chairs, optimizing their location to support the most likely areas of need in emergencies. Most recently, he helped complete a Continuous Process Improvement event to improve squadron communication overall, and responded to a real-world bomb threat event, resulting in the safe evacuation of all patients and staff.
