Attorney for ex-coach charged with drug crime plans to enter not guilty plea

Maurice Scott Jr. has an attorney who plans to enter a not guilty plea for the former East St. Louis Senior High School coach charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Scott hired Scott Rosenblum, a St. Louis attorney, on Thursday.

"I will look at the facts. And, we will go from there," Rosenblum said.

Scott declined comment, referring all questions to his attorney.

Scott, a former all-star athlete while attending high school in East St. Louis, was the Flyers baseball coach and assistant basketball coach. He also coached at Cahokia High School. He was known for broadcasting games and obtaining donations of game tickets and equipment through his connections with the St. Louis Rams.
