One dead, 3 hurt in shooting at Washington Park club

An 18-year-old man is dead and three other people were shot while leaving a nightclub in Washington Park early Sunday morning.

Illinois State Police Lt. David Bivins identified the victim as DeLarren S. Patterson, 18, of Washington Park.

Washington Park Police Detective James Mister said police responded to a call reporting shots fired, man down at 3:32 a.m. Sunday at Main Street Nightclub, 5103 Bunkhum Road.

Mister said the deceased and three other unidentified victims, all in their 20s and residents of East St. Louis or Washington Park, were shot in a parking lot near the club. The three other shooting victims were in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital, Mister said.

Approximately 30 bullets struck the vehicle, a gray Monte Carlo, the victim was inside of, he said.

Police did not locate any weapons at the scene, and a motive for the shooting has not yet been determined.

The suspect remains at large.

Washington Park police and 10 Illinois State Police officers are investigating the shooting.
