Suspect in Cahokia woman's killing captured

Police have captured one of the two suspects wanted in connection with the June 25 shooting death of a 45-year-old Cahokia mother.

Acting on a complaint by another guest, police found Torrence Neal, 25, of the 700 block of Briarbrae, St. Louis, in a motel room in Florissant, Mo.

He was charged in June with aggravated battery and first-degree murder in the killing of Cassandra Hollman, 127 Kenneth Ave., Cahokia.

A second suspect, Antrell Teen, 31, of Overland, Mo., is still being sought.

Cahokia Police Chief James Jones said Florissant police were called to a motel in their venue Monday to investigate a complaint by a visitor at the same motel. Neal and another unidentified person were in a room.

"The police were there to investigate a complaint against Neal. He gave them numerous names that were false, but eventually he told them who he was. Police found weapons and drugs in Neal's room.

Neal was arrested and is currently being held in Florissant, pending charges. Once Florissant has finished their case against Neal, he will have to face the charges against him in Cahokia, Jones said.

Police were called to Hollman's residence at 3:50 a.m. June 25 to investigate a call of a home invasion at the Kenneth Avenue address. Once there, police found a screen had been pulled away from a window. There were blood stains on the exterior of a neighboring home.

Later it was learned that Hollman was shot in the back as she was attempting to flee her residence. Another victim in the home, who was not identified, was shot in the leg.

Teen and Neal fled in a dark blue BMW SUV and had not been seen since. The Major Case Squad was activated when Hollman was shot and killed and through its investigation, Teen and Neal were identified and charges against them were issued, even though they weren't in custody. The Major Case Squad then disbanded and turned the case back over to the Cahokia Police Department.

Jones, when asked whether either Neal or Teen knew their victim, said they did not.

Police said Teen is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding Teen's whereabouts is urged to call the Cahokia Police Department at 337-9505.
