Two recent deaths in Madison County were caused by drug overdoses, according to the coroner.
Stacey J. Taylor, 41, of Granite City, died July 1 from an overdose of multiple drugs she was prescribed to treat chronic pain management, according to Madison County Coroner Stephen Nonn.
Taylor was found dead in her home with the following drugs in her system: methadone, citalopram, tramadol and lorazepam, Nonn said.
The Madison County Sheriff's Department investigated the death.
Justin R. Genna, 24, of East Alton, died May 24 as a result of intoxication of hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine, drugs known as Vicodin and a common antihistamine, Nonn said.
In addition, the toxicology results showed Genna had other drugs in his system: marijuana and dextromethorphan, a common ingredient in cough medicine.
Genna was found dead in his home. East Alton Police investigated the death.
