Centreville police find teenager's body in car

Police found the body of a teenager inside a car outside the Private Mathis Manor Apartments Monday.

Centreville Detective DeMarius Thomas said police received a call at 9:49 p.m. Monday that reported a juvenile had been shot inside of a car.

"When officers responded to the apartment building they found a 16-year-old male dead inside of a car in the 6800 block of Clarita, the Private Mathis Manor apartments," Thomas said.

He said police are in the early stages of their investigation and do not have any suspects or a motive.

Thomas did not release the victim's identity. The juvenile did not live at the apartment building where he was found.

St. Clair County Coroner Rick Stone could not be reached for comment.
