The O'Fallon Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for three recent arson incidents.
The Police Department is currently investigating three arsons that occurred over the past few weeks at occupied residential homes during the overnight hours.
No one was injured in any of the arsons as the fire extinguished itself in all three cases, according to Detective William Barlock.
"Something potentially far more serious could have happened," he said, which is why the department is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible.
The first arson occurred on July 17 in the 500 block of Rebecca Drive. The second and third incident occurred on Aug. 3 in the 1200 block of North Yale Drive. and the 1200 block of Affirm Drive
In all three incidents, an accelerant was believed to have been used to ignite the vinyl siding of the residences, according to police. Each occurred in the overnight hours between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal is investigating, along with detectives with the O'Fallon Police Department.
