Swansea Police are seeking two suspects in the shooting of a 21-year-old man just south of the Steak-Out restaurant before 9:42 p.m. Saturday in the 2100 block of N. 17th St.
Police are seeking at least two young men seen riding in a white car in connection with the shooting of the victim, who suffered a single gunshot wound to the arm and leg, according to Mike Arnold, the Swansea Police chief.
“This is not a random act,” Arnold said. “The individual was targeted, because of some activities he was involved in.”
Police have obtained a tentative identification of the first suspect and still trying to identify the second suspect, Arnold said.
“We’re still pursuing some active leads,” he said about both suspects. “I believe both are black males, but not 100 percent positive on that.”
The gunshot victim was taken to a hospital in Belleville, then to another in St. Louis before being released, Arnold said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Swansea Police at 233-8114.
