A railroad worker early Monday night found the nude body of a woman, apparently shot to death, not far from the village’s sex clubs, police said.
The woman was found at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the weeds on South Second Street. There were no identifying marks other than a gold front tooth, authorities said.
Illinois State Police Lt. Dave Bivens said investigators were called about 6 p.m. Monday and arrived at 214 S. Second St. to find “the unclothed body of a black female believed to be in her 30s lying in some brush on the west side of Illinois 3 near the clubs and some railroad tracks. There were no tattoos on the victim and her skin was medium to dark brown, Bivens said.
An autopsy was scheduled for later Tuesday to confirm the cause and the time of death. Bivens said police do not know how long the woman’s body had been in the weeds.
Bivens said police were attempting to identify the woman, but need the public’s help. Anyone with information should call Illinois State Police at 346-3990.
