Illinois State Police say a woman whose nude body was found Tuesday in Brooklyn is a 44-year-old St. Louis woman.
The victim is Natasha Miko Brown. She had been shot to death. Police said her last known residence was in the 4200 block of Farlin Avenue in St. Louis.
Her body was found Tuesday by a railroad worker, in an overgrown field adjacent to railroad tracks in the 200 block of South Second Street.
State Police Lt. Dave Bivens said an autopsy, which was done Tuesday, revealed that Brown's death was the result of a gunshot wound. Bivens said he couldn’t comment on whether police think Brown was killed there, or if her body was dumped there.
"It's real early in our investigation. We are trying to determine whether she was dumped there or not," Bivens said.
Bivens said the woman was last seen alive in St. Louis on March 25.
Police have said it’s not clear how long the woman’s body had been there.
Police initially were uncertain of the woman’s identity. Her body did not have any identifying marks, other than a gold front tooth.
