Alton police have been investigating a domestic violence attack in which a woman was shot in her mouth on Jan. 22, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend as they sat in separate cars talking. The woman was flown to a St. Louis-area hospital and was expected to survive.
A day after the shooting, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Darnell S. Johnson, 44, of Godfrey, with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm.
