A standoff Tuesday night in Belleville between police and a suspect had a peaceful resolution, according to St. Clair County Sheriff Rick Watson.
Deputies went to talk to a suspect in a manufactured home on Velda Drive in Dutch Hollow Village near Belleville at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
“We had a guy that we thought was in the house with some guns that we thought was going to harm himself or the police,” Watson said.
A standoff ensued, and the sheriff’s department called in the Special Weapons Attack Team.
Early Wednesday morning, deputies found out the suspect had left the house, according to Watson.
“I’m glad there was a resolution to it where no one got hurt,” Watson said.
The suspect, whose name was not released by police, remained at large as of Wednesday afternoon. Watson said police were wanting to talk with the suspect in connection with a pending investigation.
