The U.S. House Appropriations Committee will consider about $800,000 for two metro-east projects.
Cahokia may get $300,000 for improvements to Jerome and Mousette lanes and the Madison County Transit District may get $500,000 for bus replacement, U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello, D-Belleville, stated in a Tuesday news release.
"Investing in our local transportation infrastructure will create jobs and make our regional economy more efficient," Costello stated. "New buses will enhance public transportation options while increasing our energy efficiency. While we are early in this process, I will continue to work to maintain this funding."
