BELLEVILLE -- Staci Clayborne, of Belleville, has been named assistant vice president for student development at Southwestern Illinois College.

"I'm very excited and I'm looking forward to an awesome year," she said.

Clayborne will be responsible for developing and administering student development programs, which involve financial aid, student employment, veteran services, counseling, career activities, special services and college activities.

"Mrs. Clayborne is an experienced, seasoned educator and a proven motivator to help inspire young people to achieve," SWIC President Georgia Costello said. "We welcome her to SWIC and look forward to a productive working relationship."

Clayborne began her career as a grade school teacher and went on to hold several administrative positions, most recently as principal of East St. Louis' Miles Davis Elementary School. Prior to that, she served as a principal in Cahokia School District 187.

She has also held coordinating positions for educational programs, including program operations coordinator and assistant instructional services coordinator for the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Head Start program.

Clayborne holds a bachelor's degree in education from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., and a master's degree in educational administration from SIUE.
