More development is under way of the southwest corner of Frank Scott Parkway and North Green Mount Road in Shiloh.
To the south, on North Green Mount, construction of a building that will house Dave Threlkeld's State Farm Insurance office and other tenants is progressing. To the west, on Frank Scott Parkway, ground has been cleared for what will be home to a new Bank of Springfield. Community bank president Dan Haider said the new branch will be the second in St. Clair County after the bank opened the first a year ago at 1717 N. Illinois St. in Swansea. Haider expects the new branch will open by March.
"We're trying to absorb all of the growth here," Haider said. "We're in a position to move forward, and we're pleased with the reception we're receiving as we move forward."
The Bank of Springfield also has a sister bank, First Community Bank, in Staunton and a branch of that bank in Glen Carbon. ...

Belleville retailer Judy Carriel has just finished updating her store. She opened Basket Case at 1680 Lebanon Ave. 25 years ago and recently with some help from one of her suppliers, she has added new light fixtures, paint, furniture and crown molding to the interior. She said she then decided to redesign the entire showroom.
"That got the ball rolling, and we took it from there," Carriel said.

Cans and other non-perishable items will be given to the O'Fallon Food Pantry. Bank hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
