The News-Democrat is contacting metro-east residents who have ties to Fort Hood in Texas.

The U.S. Army said that 12 people were killed and 31 wounded in two shootings Thursday afternoon at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas, according to The Associated Press. One shooter has been killed and two suspects were apprehended.
