Prosecutors say 2 Illinois men killed woman for talking too much

The Associated Press

Cook County prosecutors say two Bellwood men, angered that a woman friend talked too much, strangled her and dumped the body in a vacant lot.

Twenty-year-old Martin Lyons and 18-year-old Nico Lewis are charged with one count each of first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Tanika Hinton of Hillside.

Assistant State's Attorney LuAnn Snow says Hinton had known Lyons and Lewis for about two months and had spent hours driving around in her car with them on Sunday.

While he was still driving the car, Lewis began beating Hinton for "talking too much."

After sexually assaulting the woman, and killing her, the two drove into Chicago and dumped her body, which was found by authorities late Monday.

Lewis was arrested Wednesday after an acquaintance of Hinton saw him driving her car. Lyons was arrested the same day.
