KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
"American Idol" favorite David Cook gets a superstar's welcome in Kansas City after fans advanced him to the final three in the hit TV show this week.
Kansas City officials will declare Friday "David Cook Day" just before an 11:30 a.m. mini-concert at the city's Power and Light District entertainment neighborhood downtown.
A resolution cites Cook's role in bringing national attention to Kansas City and congratulates him on his success.
Cook is scheduled for a parade and bigger concert in his hometown of Blue Springs, a Kansas City suburb.
Cook, David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado became the final three 'Idol' contestants Wednesday with the elimination of dreadlocked heartthrob Jason Castro.
