Keep chairs folded till parade

Ed Mitzan wrote in a recent letter that when there is a parade in Belleville he should be able to use the sidewalk to watch it. I agree. But I don't believe that he has the right to place his chairs on his favorite spot 12 hours prior to the start of the parade. By doing this he has made the sidewalk not accessible by the public.

Sidewalks are exactly that, a walk. They are not bleachers. By placing chairs on one, everyone else who needs to use it is compromised, including the business owners.

Maybe if he wants to save a spot prior to the start of a parade he should choose a spot that does not conflict with normal business operations and the rest of the public's use of the sidewalks. Go, Shriners.
